The party’s official spokesman and general secretary Parakala Prabhakar is quitting. He is expected to make an announcement to this effect on Thursday.Prabhakar, the PRP’s intellectual face along with another spokesman Dr Mitra, has been keeping away from party affairs for almost a week and remains inaccessible to both Chiranjeevi and Allu Aravind.Prabhakar’s exit will come as a blow to the PRP, from which former IPS officer C Anjaneya Reddy walked out a couple of days ago, questioning the party leadership’s style of functioning and despite pleas from Chiranjeevi that he should stay back.Even in the case of Prabhakar, sources said both Chiranjeevi and Aravind made several attempts to reach out to him and somehow convince him to remain with the party. But Prabhakar has decided not to continue in the PRP and, therefore, saw no point in engaging in any discussion with the leadership.Prabhakar’s view, according to his close aides, appears to be that the PRP is being run like a ‘commercial establishment’ rather than a political party.This only amounts to betraying intellectuals like him who have joined the party believing in its promise of bringing in a clean culture into politics
