CPI(M) withdraws from Guntur LS seat

Communist Party of India (Marxist) district secretary D. Rama Devi withdrew her nomination on Wednesday from Guntur Parliamentary Constituency giving a sigh of relief to Telugu Desam Party nominee Madala Rajendra Prasad.Now 10 candidates are left in the fray for the seat.
In the seven Assembly segments under the Guntur Parliamentary constituency there are 104 candidates in the fray, while there are 14 candidates from Narsaraopet Parliamentary Constituency and 102 from the seven Assembly segments under the Lok Sabha constituency. From three Assembly segments of Bapatla Parliamentary constituency 42 candidates remained in the fray.
There are 11 candidates in Vemuru (SC), and 18 candidates in Repalle including Minister for Ports Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, and 13 in Bapatla constituency.
In Narsaraopet Assembly constituency 13 candidates, including Minister for Civil Supplies Kasu Venkata Krishna Reddy, are in the fray compared to 21 candidates from Guntur West where Minister for Transport Kanna Lakshmi Narayana is contesting.
Number of candidates in the fray in other constituencies in the district are: Guntur East (16), Prathipadu (SC) 16, Tenali (22), Ponnur (19), Mangalagiri (21), Tadikonda SC - (13), Pedakurapadu (15), Chilakaluripet (17), Narsaraopet (19), Sattenapalli (14), Vinukonda (14), Gurazala (17) and Macherla (28).
