YSR meet had no nod from cops

The model code violation by Y S Rajasekhara Reddy got murkier on Thursday with police denying that permission was given for his public meeting at the open ground adjacent to a government school in Balkonda on Wednesday. Speaking to TOI, Armoor DSP M Hatiram made it clear that no permission was given either to gather masses in the open place or organise a meeting. “The local Congress leaders diverted the CM’s convoy into the village from NH-7 to take a left turn. But there was no permission to hold the meeting as Section 144 was clamped on the school premises since SSC exams were being held,” he said. Meanwhile, officials have picked holes in the police claims, saying: How did the cops allow sound system on the school premises if prohibitory orders had already been clamped?
