Telugu Desam complains to EC on Sakshi TV

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Monday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against Sakshi TV channel owned by Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, accusing it of violating the provisions of the Cable Television Networks (regulation) Act and the model code of conduct under the Representation of the People Act.

In his complaint to EC, M. A. Shariff, TDP general secretary, alleged that the Sakshi TV channel was conducting vindictive political propaganda against TDP by telecasting damaging visuals under the guise of regular programmes that contain virulent insinuations against TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu.The TDP sought EC directions to Sakshi TV channel to stop the telecast of defamatory programmes and initiate criminal proceedings.
