The Congress MP, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, on Thursday said the Kadapa MP, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would become the next Chief Minister of the State.
The MP from Guntur claimed that the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, had promised to pass on the legacy to Jagan by the end of September. He said the Congress high command would take a decision to this effect and ensure that Jagan is made the Chief Minister.
He further said the high command had analysed the public demand in favour of Jagan since the death of Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. The leadership was only waiting to know whether the demand is orchestrated or genuine, he said.
In the midst of senior leaders, including K V P Ramachandra Rao changing the tone on the subject indicating that the chances of Jagan succeeding Dr Rajasekhar Reddy are bleak, the Guntur MP’s statement came as a surpise. It is to be seen how far Rayapati Sambasiva Rao is believable.
